Howdy, friend!
I’m Charla (pronounced SHAR-la).
You can call me Carol, Carla or Charmin (many do – it’s o.k.). Daddy nicknamed me Charlie, teachers called me Charles, and a Starbucks staffer once dubbed me Karma! Some avoid calling me by name and just say hey. My favorite name of all is friend.
You’re looking at a small-town lifer from Carthage, North Carolina. That’s right; been here all my life, and I have no desire to leave. Well, except on a few stressful days when I dream of a spread in Montana *sigh*.
I observe my surroundings with quietness, gaze into space, and startle if left in that state too long. Ask my husband, my children, or my coworkers; they will attest to this strange, but true, fact. And I revel in laughter; the kind that makes me leak (with tears…I know what you were thinking). Oh! And I talk with my hands – my karate chop is apparently the one that draws the most attention.
I love God, The Father.
Jesus is my Savior.
The Holy Spirit is my Counselor, Comforter, and Guide.
I cannot recall a single moment from life when God’s truth failed to demolish Satan’s lies. Friend, some of my circumstances remain the same to this day. When I beg God for understanding I come to the knowledge that sometimes He does not intend to fix my circumstances; He uses the circumstances to transform me. It’s good stuff, y’all; not easy, but worth every moment. Can you relate?
Writing is an avenue for me to release thoughts and gain insight, and until a few years ago the thought of sharing my private words never occurred to me.
Then a ministry began unfolding; a ministry of sharing these writings with others in need of godly relationship, encouragement for pressing through, and hope because of Christ.
So, I offer you my real-life stories.
How I am learning to:
- engage in the life God planned.
- thrive wherever God places me.
- stand triumphant in the absolute truth, power, and joy of Jesus Christ.
- recognize His personal involvement in every nuance of life.
I invite you to join others on the same journey as we learn, apply, and experience the truth of God.
